Reiki
Five thousand years ago, the Tibetans used a healing process which did not have a name yet but was known to provide healing at the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels. Today this healing method is better known as Reiki.
The term Reiki comes from two distinct Japanese words combined by Dr. Usui. It signifies the cosmic energy science he discovered in ancient Tibetan texts. “Rei” refers to cosmic, universal energy and “ki” refers to the life energy of the physical, outer planes.
As Reiki evolved and was introduced into the Indian culture, it became something that was only practiced by those of certain caste. Reiki was simply providing healing through the movement of energy.
The first step in Reiki is that of diagnostics or the diagnosis of what has caused the imbalances in a client’s life. It might be spiritual, emotional, or mental blocks. It could be diet or personal habits that have created some sort of imbalance.
Reiki treats the body as a whole and naturally aligns and restores the energy in the body, emotions, mind and spirit through the energy centres or chakras in the body. Reiki restores vital energy to all the interrelated parts of the being and promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being.
Now a days, Reiki is used all over the world, including doctors are now recommending Reiki to their patients to complement other forms of health treatments. Reiki is also being practiced in various hospitals and hospices across North America.
How Does Reiki Work?
Reiki Practitioners act as a conduit between the client and the source of the universal life force energy, the energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to the client.

You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where the Reiki practitioner has placed their hands. Some people feel sensations moving throughout the body, while others do not perceive any change at all.
One thing in common is that everyone feels very relaxed and peaceful during a reiki treatment, and many may even fall asleep during the process.
